… how content containing profanity, dealing with human sexuality, drug use, the fallacies of tradition etc is labelled ‘Adult’, yet in reality they are topics that aren’t exclusively the domain of adults.
Go out into the real world and you’ll find adolescents spewing expletives just out of any adult’s earshot. You’ll find teens not just having sex, but also comparing notes on its many facets… positions, protection, partners, places… Talking about weed, getting wasted, the finer points of rolling your own… About how they want to date and co-habit while their parents want to arrange everything in their matrimony, even their partner.
There is a collective understanding by those within a generation that this is indeed what’s going on in the world around them and it’s a surprise to none. Yet to reveal the truth to those from another generation is considered ‘asking for trouble’.
So the end result is that you don’t show adults ‘adult content’ for fear of freaking adults out.
